We are a fully virtual practice and offer sessions online only. Virtual therapy allows you to connect with your therapist from the comfort and privacy of your own space, while still receiving the same level of care and support.

Yes! During your free video consultation, you’ll have the chance to meet your matched therapist and get a sense of what working together might feel like. You’re welcome to briefly share what’s been going on for you, while also learning more about the therapy process.

We can talk through practical details such as fees, availability, and any questions you may have. Think of this consultation as a short “mini session” designed to help you get a feel for therapy and decide whether the therapist feels like the right fit for you. It’s completely normal to feel a bit nervous going into this first conversation, and that’s okay. We’re here to make it as comfortable and supportive as possible.

To get started, simply submit an intake form through the Contact Us page on our website. Once we receive your request, our administrative assistant will respond within 24 hours to help connect you with a therapist and arrange a consultation or first session.

After your initial booking, you’ll have access to your therapist’s online scheduling calendar. This allows you the flexibility to book future sessions, as well as reschedule or cancel appointments as needed.

We use the Jane App platform for all virtual sessions. You will receive a secure link to join your appointment by email approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled time.

At your session time, your counsellor will admit you from the virtual waiting room.

Jane App works best on Google Chrome and can be accessed from a desktop computer or mobile device. If you’re joining from your phone, you may find it helpful to download the Jane app to easily access and manage your appointments.

We thoughtfully match you with a therapist based on your availability, the concerns you’re seeking support for, and the clinician’s skills and areas of expertise. We also consider personality fit, as feeling comfortable and understood is an important part of the process. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, we will work with you to find a therapist who better meets your needs.

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations made with more than 24 hours notice will not be charged. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, as well as missed sessions, are subject to the full session fee.

Our services are covered by most extended health care benefit plans. Coverage can vary, so we recommend checking your individual benefits package to confirm whether counselling and/or psychotherapy services by a Registered Psychotherapist are included.

If you’re unsure, you can contact your insurance provider directly for details about your coverage. We’re also happy to provide any information or documentation you may need to support your claim. While do not directly bill your insurance provider, we provide to you at the end of your session a receipt you may submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Our work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), a well-researched approach that helps partners better understand their emotions, communication patterns, and connection with one another. We also draw from other therapeutic approaches to tailor the process to your unique needs and situation.

The first four sessions focus on assessment. You’ll begin by meeting with your therapist as a couple, followed by individual sessions for each partner, and then come back together to review and make sense of what was learned. This helps create a clear understanding of your relationship dynamics and where support is most needed.

From there, the therapy process focuses on strengthening your connection, helping each partner feel understood, supported, and able to reach for one another with greater trust and confidence.

In terms of timing, there isn’t a fixed length for couples therapy. Emotionally Focused Therapy typically ranges from about 8 to 20 sessions, but this can vary depending on your shared history, the challenges you’re facing, and each partner’s individual experiences and goals. Some couples may need more time, while others may move through the process more quickly.

Yes, absolutely. Individual therapy can be a helpful complement to couples work, as it allows you to explore your own experiences, patterns, and emotions more deeply. This often supports and strengthens the progress you make in your relationship.

In couples therapy, the focus is on the relationship itself and your therapist is there to support both partners and the connection between you. If you’re interested in individual support, we can match you with another therapist on our team. With your consent, your individual and couples therapists can also collaborate when helpful, to ensure your care feels aligned and supportive.

We understand that cost can be a concern, and it’s an important factor to consider when seeking support. Many couples find that investing in their relationship now can help prevent deeper emotional strain and more significant challenges down the road. Therapy offers a space to strengthen communication, rebuild connection, and address concerns before they grow.

We also recognize that every situation is unique, and we’re happy to discuss options with you so you can make a decision that feels right for you.
