    About

My journey in life and career has led me to anchor my passion in psychology as a psychotherapist. I hold a strong conviction that creating a safe, non-judgmental environment is essential for validating clients’ struggles and facilitating healing. My approach is tailored to each individual, emphasizing collaboration and honoring their unique lived experiences and needs. I integrate person-centered, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed methods into my practice.

With a background as a physician and six years of experience working with chronic pain patients, I have developed a deep understanding of the mental health challenges that can affect every aspect of life. This experience informs my commitment to trauma-informed psychotherapy and the Biopsychosocial model, which considers biological, psychological, and social/cultural factors in understanding each client’s concerns. I draw from various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) to provide tailored interventions that meet my clients’ needs.

    Experience

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), holding a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Yorkville University, New Brunswick, Canada. As a specialist physician (anesthesiologist) trained in Iran, I practiced in the Middle East for several years. My two-year postgraduate training in Interventional Chronic Pain Management at Montpellier University in France inspired my work with chronic pain patients upon moving to Canada. Since becoming registered with CRPO, I have supported adults, couples, and adolescents in private practice.

    Approach To Therapy

In my therapeutic practice, I employ a humanistic, person-centered, and culturally sensitive approach. When trauma is a concern, I utilize a trauma-informed framework to guide my work. I also incorporate a range of interventions, tools, and exercises from various modalities, including CBT, EFT, SFT, and DBT. For relational issues and couples therapy, I integrate both EFT and the Gottman method to best support the individuals and couples I work with.
